Managing My Money
Barclays are offering a new service called Financial Wings which is avaliable for everyone - including non-Barclays customers.
Financial Wings works in a similar way to the Barclays Digital Driving Licence where there are modules which you can learn from (i.e. 'Planning') and earn points from completing quizzes and activities. The modules have been developed in conjunction with experts like StepChange, Equifax and The Money Advice Service.
Modules include advice on:
- Bank accounts
- Budget planning
- Affordable lending
- Saving for the future
If you would like to find out more information and how to sign up to this service please visit the official website for Barclays Financial Wings
Benefits of having a bank account include:
- your money will be safe from theft and fire
- it's convenient - with a debit card you can easily pay for purchases and withdraw money, usually free of charge. You can set up direct debits or standing orders for bills to be paid automatically.
- you can easily monitor your money using online banking
(however be aware of penalties for things like unauthorised overdrafts).
A simple bank account is often the easiest. Our Tenancy Sustainment Officers can help you look at the different bank accounts available.
Credit unions are not for profit financial co-operatives owned and run by their members for their members. They offer savings and great value loans. They help people to manage their money and avoid expensive debt. Boom is a credit union for people who live or work in Surrey, West Sussex or Kingston.
